Citizen Men's BM8180-03E Eco-Drive Canvas Strap WatchCitizen has been making quality watches for almost a century now and came up with the name and slogan “Close to the Hearts of People Everywhere”.  Citizen has been innovating new products and is on the leading edge of watch making and technology.  The Eco-Drive canvas strap watch is military inspired and has a more simple design to it and looks durable and rugged.  If you are not a fan of this citizen watch then we recommend taking a look at the Fossil men’s JR1354 Nate watch.

I was looking for a watch that would be great for the outdoors and had a strong strap that would last over the years.  This watch is simple in design but still looks attractive and the customer reviews are phenomenal, so I decided to give this watch a go.  After receiving the watch I noticed everything came in as expected and the watch was a decent size on my wrist.  Now it is time to look at the features.

Features of the Citizen BM8180-03E Eco-Drive Watch

Citizen Men's BM8180-03E Eco-Drive Canvas Strap WatchOne of the best reasons to purchase this watch is that you won’t have to keep replacing it with batteries.  There is a solar cell underneath the dial and light is absorbed through the crystal and dial to power your watch.  What is also nice is that it can charge from indoor light.  If you like to swim or snorkel then this watch is perfect but going below 100 meters will be detrimental to the watch.  The mineral dial window is strong and scratch resistant and I will be putting it to the test as I bump into things around the house.  The case of the watch is made of brushed stainless steel and looks attractive.

What’s nice is Citizen created a day and date calendar that is actually readable from a decent distance and is at the 3 o’clock position.  The hands are very luminous and you are able to easily tell the time when the lights are out.  The watch includes a Japanese quartz movement which will keep accurate time.  So far this seems like a solid watch that is easy to adjust with its decent sized crown right of the calendar.  Here are the features:

  • Imported
  • Canvas strap with leather lining and metal-lined sizing grommets
  • Japanese Quartz movement with analog display
  • Mineral dial window and brushed stainless steel case
  • Charges in natural or indoor light, day and date calendar, and luminous hands and time markers
  • Water resistant to 330 feet (100 M): suitable for snorkeling, as well as swimming, but not diving

Citizen Men's BM8180-03E Eco-Drive Canvas Strap WatchThe only drawback that I can see is the bands length for some men.  If you have large wrists then you might have to get a different band.  Other than that, this military inspired watch is on sale for 30 percent off of retail at the time of writing this article and is well worth the money.

Final Thoughts on the Citizen Eco-Drive Watch

This watch is great for my needs and offers a nice five-year warranty from Citizen.  I expect this watch to last many years and I love the fact that I will not have to replace the batteries.  Click the link below to get additional information and discounts on this watch.
