Could New York City Be Getting Its Own Week Of Fashion? We spoke about the men’s fashion week that was going to happen in Toronto in our last article and now there might be talks of New York City following suit.  The Toronto Men’s Fashion week is getting a lot of buzz and will be one of the best we have ever seen.  You can get more information about the TOMFW here and brush up on what will be an epic event.  Now, will New York City be as lucky as Toronto to have a fashion week of their own?  Who knows but it all comes down to funding and who will be the best sponsors.  Here is some additional information from Fashion Times about the show and Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA:

“We have a lot of boxes we can check off as of now. We have enough designers who could be a collective of talent in both emerging and established that would make a strong statement for American designers,” he told WWD.

“The Mayor, New York City and the New York City Economic Development Corp. are very supportive of our work around all the collections. And we have enough venues and locations around the city to hold it.”

There is one thing in the way of all of this happening in New York City.

“Funding. Without the money, and a substantial amount of it, it’s not going to happen,” Kolb said.

“We need more funding for venue rentals. Travel for international editors, it takes marketing promotion, production costs and more. I feel like I’m halfway there, but I need to get a little bit more there.”

Securing a media partner would be beneficial to help this happen and is being looked into at the moment.

“We are open to a media partner. We involved men’s magazines early on in our initial discussions. We got input from editors at GQ, Details, T magazine and Esquire, and also the American retailers,” Kolb told WWD.

These are exciting times and all of us at Male Emporium hopes it comes to fruition.  The men’s fashion industry is booming and we are seeing new styles emerging everyday.  Tell us what you think of the upcoming events and if you will be visiting TOMFW.
